We provide credit and other financial services to primarily female micro-entrepreneurs who currently cannot access financial services.

Our Business model draws its inspiration from the Social Business of “Maman Kahindo Sikuli” started in the 80’s in Butembo DR Congo

In-Kind Loan Program

This program enables poor women with no capital to build up working capital by selling goods that they borrow from this program.

COMMENTS FROM THE SUMMER 2010 FIELDTRIP TO PROMICROFINANCE'S OFFICES IN NORTH KIVU, DRC

 

Greetings Everyone!
 

 

Although I have travelled several times to Africa before, this was my first trip to francophone Africa. Being the size of Western Europe, the trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo showed me a whole new side of war-ravaged North Kivu, which I had only read about before. Not only being stunningly beautiful, after meeting the clients we serve and hearing about their troubles in providing for their families, I am now even more inspired to work hard to expand our client base and get some our newest products off the ground. It was great to meet PMI employees in the DRC; David MASOMO, the IT officer, and Console, the 
loan officer; and I feel like I've known them a much longer time. Even though my French is extremely limited, the time we spent there felt incredibly helpful in trying out loan modalities against the clients’ own opinions and reaching out to others in the city for future partnerships.

NEW STAFF MEMBER JOINS PRO-MICROFINANCE

KAHINDO KAHIWA CONSOLE is now a Loan Officer for Promicrofinance International. A native of Butembo, Console has close ties with the community and personally knows a good number of the women we serve. She obtained her BA in Finance and Accounting at the local Institut de Commerce in Butembo. She brings over three years of microfinance experience. 


 

CASH LOAN PROGRAM LAUNCHED!

Promicrofinance is known for in-kind lending to women involved in the sale of second hand clothing. Now Promicrofinance has extended services to other local entrepreneurs. Kahumbu sells tomatoes, Agnes sells used books and Kahindo sells limes. All three women are among the 51 recipients to benefit from this first series of cash loans.
